Derek Carr was born in Fresno, California the youngest of three children, to Rodger and Sheryl Carr. His two older brothers are David and Darren Carr. As a senior in 2013, he became the fourth quarterback in FBS history to throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdown passes in a season. 2013 National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete, becoming just the third player in school history to receive the high academic distinction.
Derek has a very strong faith in God. Derek belives his talents are a gift from god and plays to glorify god. In his own words: “Football is God’s gift to me and I am thankful He chose me to be the steward of this gift. Being a quarterback is what I do but it does not define who I am. I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ. Each time I step out on the field, I play my heart out for the Lord. My Faith keeps me centered, and I look forward to what God has in store for me on my journey through life.”
